The scenes in Derek Jarman's ``Sebastiane'' were ``a pivotal moment'' for teenager Isaac Julien. ``It did things in film I didn't think you could,'' he recalls.
Now, three decades on, Julien is paying homage with a feature-length documentary, ``Derek,'' which he directed starring Jarman's longtime muse Tilda Swinton. It previewed at the Sundance Film Festival last month. Julien is also curating a retrospective at London's Serpentine Gallery that opens on Feb. 23.
